Hello,
My name is Wyoming’s Wild Peach; AKA Peaches! My human Mom is Rebecca Hall. I’ll tell you about Mom, but first I will give you my story.
I was born somewhere around April 1, 2017 as far as the BLM* can tell. My herd with my horse mom was rounded up when I was around a year old from the HMA* – Divide Basin in Wyoming. After I was weaned from my horse mom I was given my freeze brand and processed for adoption. A TIP trainer was able to teach me the basics and I was adopted by a loving woman, but proved to be a very ornery wild child! Needless, to say I ended up in a 100 Day Mustang Makeover program with Mrs. Julia. Kaylee was my assigned trainer and when finished I would be available for full adoption. As it turned out I met my mom on February 14, 2020 (mom almost called me Valentine both because of the date and my star looks like ½ of a heart), but my road to home was rough. I did not respect humans, I pushed through gates, bolted, reared, etc. Sometimes Kaylee was in tears, but in the end I showed mom I could do everything Kaylee asked and we did well in the Mustang show in May. After the show I did pull a fast one and broke free to run back to the mustang barn. In the end I loaded and headed for my home.
My mom worked with me regularly, and did not (nor does she now) let me get away with any type of misbehavior. I successfully learned several tricks… I smile for cookies and shake hands on command. However, mom knew I needed more, and she decided to go back to her roots and started driving me. I liked it so much she bought me my first harness and found a lightweight jog cart since I could easily carry 15-30 pounds without compromising my health [most people do not realize horses do not finish growing until they are 6 years old and should not be ridden until at least 5.5 years old]. Regardless, by early November 2020 mom was riding in the cart and we were off. I did my first parade in December 2020. I did so well that I was invited to give kids a ride at the 2021 Pioneer Summer Camp & Winter Fest at Harvest. By August 2022 mom found an Amish wagon, but sadly I scratched my eye and my doctor (Dr. Landa) said I needed to have surgery. Off to Palm Beach Equine where I met Dr. Castro who did a great job cleaning out my fungus infection by completing a lamellar keratoplasty. The worst part of the whole ordeal was being confined to a stall for 38 days while being medicated every two hours. In the end I returned to the freedom of my pasture with my pasture mates and my vision was restored completely by February 2023. I love my job and people so much that I am now available regularly. My first major event since the surgery was the February 9th Night to Shine. I had a wonderful time and met so many great people. The humans said I made their night magical.
About Mom:
Mom’s name is Rebecca Hall (she runs the show), and she is from West Virginia originally, but has lived in Clewiston for 14 years. Mom has had horses her entire life; she has trained a variety of horses for general riding, Western events and English with basic entry level Hunter over fences. Mom has also provided riding instruction in afore mentioned disciplines. Mom grew up in the country and occasionally used pulling ponies to move various items such as logs as well as training her personal pony to pull a cart. Mom did many crazy things with the horses and her rodeo riding put a lot of stress on her body. Since mom had some struggles with her physical health she began looking for a more laidback horse to ride. She tried two different replacements for her Ara-appaloosa, but in the end was not fully satisfied with them and moved them to other homes. She had spoken to her friend Julia about the mustangs, and Julia offered her an opportunity to look at the group I was part of. As I stated before, mom fell in love with me in the mustang arena and decided I could be her replacement trail horse. Little did she know our path would take a turn. Now we are working together to bring joy to other people while helping mom to support my needs… ESPECIALLY the COOKIES I love!!! The job works well for me since I get to meet so many wonderful people and go on adventures, and it helps mom since she has a couple of new knees. I hope you have enjoyed our story and we get the opportunity to meet someday soon. There’s plenty of horse love to share!
